Amazing Reviews: Mega Man

Mega Man
You can buy it if you click on the picture.

Sometimes I like to go back and play the game that started the series.....the first Mega Man!
Story is just about trying to stop Dr. Wily from taking over the world (just like every Mega Man game out there).

Controls are simple. A to jump, B to shoot.

This game was revolutionary when it first came out. Choosing what level you want first? Taking the boss's weapon? Using weapons other than attacking? It was one of the first revolutionary video games back then. Unlike every other Mega Man game after it, there are only 6 bosses (besides Wily Castle Bosses). Another thing, there are no Energy Tanks, so I hope you're really good at jumping and shooting, cause it'll come in handy. Another thing I should point out, the game is very VERY hard. Levels are very well designed, but they're incredibly difficult.

It feels a little weird playing this Mega Man game after Mega Man 2. There are a ton of differences! But the game is still fun and challenging. If you're looking for a challenging game that is very fun, Mega Man is for you! Another thing, Mega Man has a good frame rate, which is odd because this game came out in 1987. Sure, the frame rate will go down a little when there's too much on screen, but I think the frame rate is better than Mega Man 2.

Now lets point out some bad things.

One of my complaints is its infuriating difficulty.Thankfully there are only 6 bosses. (Not counting Wily Castle Bosses, and those are all easy.......sure I died about 10 times before I beat them.....)

My second complaint is that.....well.....once you're done playing it, you probably won't want to play it again unlike the other 9 Mega Man games. (I've played 2, 9, 10, and I'm going to get 3, but I've played all those more than once and I plan on playing them all again).

Overall, Mega Man is a good game, but I would have to say it's not for everyone. Only video gamers who can take having a few game overs and difficult platforming.

This game gets an

8.5/10 A good game with a few flaws.

Amazing Reviews: Star Fox 64

My N64
Star Fox 64
You can buy it by clicking on the picture.

It's always good to turn back on my N64 and play this game again. And I also thought since Star
Fox 64 3D was coming out, I'd review the original.

The story is about trying to stop the evil scientist Andross from taking over the world.

To move your ship, just move the control stick where you want. (I don't have the Virtual Console version, so I'm not sure if they're the same). To shoot, just press the A button and you can hold the A button to charge up your shot which will also lock onto enemies. If you press L or R twice, you can do a barrel roll which will prevent any shots from hitting you and helps you turn quicker. If you press the R button, your ship will tilt right, if you press the Z button, your ship will turn left. If you press the B button you will use a bomb which helps destroy large groups of enemies. However you need to collect those powerups with the lette B on them. Those are basically bomb ammunition. If you press the left C button, you will do a boost which helps you get by tight spaces. If you press Down and the left C button then you will do a somersault. If you press Down and the down C stick, you will do a.....backflip? Not sure of the exact name, but it is almost like the somersault except it turns you around.

Picture of gold and silver rings. They are not exactly as
they appear in the game.

Sometimes when you destroy an enemy, you will see a ring. Silver Rings restore your health a little, Star Rings restore your health a lot (they're rare though), and Gold Rings restore almost all your health. If you collect three Gold Rings, your health will increase (but only for the stage you're on). If you collect six Gold Rings, you get an extra life.

Star Fox 64 is an enjoyable game. It's short, but you WILL want to replay it again. Building up a different score every time, trying to do better, beating it faster, it's great fun. There are also multiple paths that you can take which lets you beat the game differently. However I have two problems with the game.

The first one is that the game is VERY frustrating the first time you play it. It's a very high difficulty game, but after you beat it once, you get used to it.

The second one is that the boss fights are...well.....they're just really easy. Even the final boss was easy, even on my first try. The first boss you can beat in about 10 seconds if you know how. It's not really a complaint, just something I had to say.

Star Fox 64 is a great game that is very fun. I still play it today and I love replaying it.

Star Fox 64 gets a

9.4/10  A great game to have in your collection

Amazing Reviews: Banjo Kazooie

Banjo Kazooie
You can buy it if you click on the picture

I'm glad my old N64 console and Banjo Kazooie cartridge still works, because this game is great.

The story is about an evil witch who thinks she's the prettiest in the world but finds out that Banjo's sister is the prettiest, so she kidnaps her to steal her looks and Banjo and Kazooie must save her.

To move Banjo around, move the control stick in the direction you want. To move the camera, use the C buttons to move it wherever you want. To jump, press A and press it again to do a double jump which makes you go a little higher and farther. Jump and press the Z button to do a (I don't remember the exact name of it) ground pound. Press the Z button and B button to do a (Still don't remember the exact name) slide attack. When you are idle or are moving slowly, press the B button to do a claw swipe which, to be honest, I almost never use. Press the Z button and A button to do a (Sigh, I don't know the name again) high jump. While swimming, press the A button to move a little faster and press the B button to dive. You learn many MANY new moves as you move along such as flying or shooting eggs at opponents.

If you get hit by an enemy, you will lose health. To restore your health, pick up a honeycomb which will restore 1 health. You can get a honeycomb by defeating an enemy. You can also increase your health with empty honeycombs which are tough to get and hidden in secret areas. You will also notice music notes on the ground. There are 100 music notes in each world and they open up music note doors which open up new areas in the main world. In every world there are 5 creatures called Jinjos that when you save them all, you will be awarded with the special item called Jiggies which are jigsaw pieces that open up new worlds. There are many ways to get Jiggies from helping other people to just collecting them on the ground.

"The game has good graphics for its time"

The game has good graphics for its time (1998) and controls are smooth and are very well. The game is very enjoyable, exploring vast lands, defeating enemies, solving puzzles, it's all very enjoyable. I would actually prefer this game over the legendary Super Mario 64. It's that good.

Now lets go over some bad things, and I only have 2 small complaints.

The first can be overlooked and isn't really much of a problem, but sometimes the frame rate will go down a bit, but it's not anything to worry about.

My last complaint is that moving underwater is VERY slow.....it can test a bit of your patience, but it's not too bad.

Overall, Banjo Kazooie has great controls, good graphics, excellent music, and is just a lot of fun.

9.7/10 An outstanding game with a couple flaws.

Amazing Reviews: Pokemon Battle Revolution

Pokemon Battle Revolution
You can buy it by clicking on the picture.

Before Pokemon Battle Revolution came out, I thought it would be a sequel to Pokemon Gale of Darkness which was my favorite home console Pokemon game. Nope. To be honest, this game isn't that great. But there's some stuff to like about it.

No story. Just.....well.....you're trying to be the best Pokemon Trainer in all of Poketopia.

......What I'm supposed to go over controls? There are no controls basically.

Now lets hear some good things about Battle Revolution. To be honest, I found only 3.

The first good thing is it's the first to have online on the Wii and it's actually pretty good.

Second, you can transfer items and special Pokemon to Pokemon Pearl, Diamond, and Platinum. However you can only do it once per game (Who thought that was a good idea?).

Third, I like all the customization that you can do with your trainer, like editing their catchphrases and so forth. But they don't show up online which was a bad idea.

Now lets go over some bad things. Remember that online mode I talked about earlier? Well, it's good. But the one thing I hate about it, in the random mode it almost ALWAYS LAGS. I actually haven't had this problem lately, but it does happen.

The main game is boring also. Why? Because it's just too easy. If you have a Palkia, Dialga, or any other legendary Pokemon, the main story is going to be no problem. Although I hate Neon Colosseum because of its stupid battling style where you spin a wheel which determines your Pokemon.

Another thing, transferring your Pokemon isn't really a WOW factor. In fact, almost all of this game can be compared to the N64. You could transfer your Pokemon to the N64! Not very creative or inventive.

The Slowbro sprite in Pokemon Battle Revolution

Pokemon Stadium 2
Slowbro sprite

While I'm on the topic of the N64, a couple days ago while playing Pokemon Stadium 2 on my N64, I noticed that the graphics are comparible with POKEMON BATTLE REVOLUTION. Wow, that's just sad. I really don't even have to say any more about that.

Overall, Pokemon Battle Revolution is a lazy game. The online is the only reason I play it SOMETIMES today. For some reason, I enjoy the online. But the lag can be an annoyance. Well, this game gets a

5.5/10 This game has mostly bad stuff, but there are a few good things about it.

Thoughts on Wii U and upcoming 3DS games

I was excited to see another Wii console being shown! I think that the Wii U looks good and that the way using the controller and then whatever you do happens on the TV screen.....it sounded and looked cool. However I was not excited about the estimated price of it: $499.99 which I was shocked at. Well I definitely won't be getting it when it first comes out, but I will when the next Super Smash Bros. game comes out for it (which has been announced for the Wii U and 3DS YAY!).

On to the 3DS games. And I was excited about all of them, mostly Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus, and Star Fox 64 3D. I am excited about the other ones too, but those were the ones that excited and shocked me the most. I was waiting 7 years for a new Luigi's Mansion. I wanted a new one ever since I played it when it first came out. I haven't played the original Kid Icarus, but this one looked amazing (mainly because of the online matches). Star Fox also excited me because I had just finished playing the original Star Fox 64 on my old N64 (again, I was excited by the online).

I am looking forward to both of these things in the future!

Amazing Reviews: Mario Strikers Charged

Mario Strikers Charged
You can buy the game by clicking on the picture.

Mario Strikers Charged is the sequel to Super Mario Strikers for the Gamecube, and a pretty good one at that.

There is basically no story, but if you want something, then you're just trying to be the best soccer player.

Press A while you have the ball to do a pass. You can control who you want to pass it to by just tilting the control stick on the Nunchuk in the way of the person you want to pass it to. Press B to kick the ball, but the kick will only be executed if you are on the opponents side of the field. You can also hold the B button to charge up your kick. Red is the lowest form of charged up ball and White is the most. When you don't have the ball, if you press the control pad on the Wii Remote in any direction you will do a steal and if it hits someone with the ball, you take the ball for yourself. You can press the Control Pad when you have the ball to have your character do a special move or ability. When you don't have the ball and you shake the Wii Remote, you will do a tackle. If it hits someone, they will be sent flying.

There are quite a few modes. The Striker Cup is when you go up against the Fire Cup, Crystal Cup, and Striker Cup. The Fire Cup is really easy. The Crystal Cup is hard. The Striker Cup is VERY hard (especially if it's your first time playing). And you need to play the Striker Cup to unlock one of the best characters, Petey Piranha. Striker Challenges let you win game cheats if you beat them. But unfortunately, some of them are near impossible. I've beaten every one of them except Lucky Seven and So Far Behind...

Now here's what makes Mario Strikers Charged shine: its online mode. The online is hands down the best on the Wii, featuring random matches, non hacker (most of the time) leaderboards, and random matches with friends, and unfortunately I have't gotten to do Friend Matches, so I don't know what it does, but I'm sure it's awesome.

".....it tells you the connection status between you and the other player!"

Overall, Mario Strikers Charged is a great game to have mainly because of its online which has no lag (usually and something I like also is that is tells you the connection status between you and the other player! SWEET! You can accept or decline!)

This game gets a

9.3/10 Great online mode that will have you playing for years to come!

Amazing Reviews: MLB Power Pros

MLB Power Pros
You can buy it by clicking on this picture.

There have just been no good baseball games on any video game system. But finally, there is a good baseball game, MLB Power Pros.

There is no story in this game besides Success Mode which is about you going through College to get to the Minor Leagues.

Controls are very easy and you'll learn them through the game.

Success Mode Main Menu
"The opening intro graphics are beautiful"

There is so much to love about this game. So many customizable options, it's crazy. Lots of stuff to do. The opening intro graphics are beautiful, and the rest of the graphics are simplistic but actually pretty good. This game isn't just baseball. There are some RPG elements in Success Mode like making your choice on what to do and raising your stats through training. What I love about Success Mode is it's different every time thanks to the Random Events. Almost no two Success Mode file is the same.

A problem I have with this however is the lack of online, and thanks to our luck, the
MLB Power Pros 2009
that was scheduled to come to the US was cancelled and was released only in Japan HAD ONLINE. It was sad for me because I thought it was going to come to the US.

The second and last problem I have is that there are some modes that nobody plays. (Namely, League Mode and Wii Remote Mode).

That being said I think that if you like baseball, then this game is for you. It's the best baseball game on the Wii     and has funny graphics.

Amazing Reviews: Pokemon Black and White

Pokemon Black and White
You can click on this to buy Pokemon White but you'll have to
look in the review to buy Pokemon Black.

Pokemon has always been a great series and people always wanted a Pokemon game that would be a fresh new start and that you wouldn't see any of the old Pokemon. Now finally,
Pokemon Black
and
Pokemon White
have done it.

The story is about another evil team (what a surprise) that wants to instead free Pokemon from the clutches of humans. But it turns out that they just want to steal your Pokemon (gee who didn't see that coming).

The controls are so easy I don't even have to say anything.

This game is very fun and although you can beat the main game in about 2-3 days, there's a lot of stuff to do after the game (especially if you have Wifi). The online of this game is just amazing. There's loads of online options from Random Matchup (FINALLY) and the GTS Negotiations (my favorite). Also, it's great that we see the Pokemon moving in fully animated bodies instead of a still picture throughout the whole match. The lands in this game are vast and are actually a lot of fun traveling.

There are very few problems about this game.

My first and only complaint is that some of the Pokemon designs and names are.....kind of stupid. Some of the names are almost impossible to remember unlike the other games and there's a Pokemon based off of a garbage bag (......very creative).

If you like Pokemon then this game is PERFECT. It has everything you could want and it gets a

9.5/10 A great game to have in your collection.

Amazing Reviews: Sonic Colors

Sonic Colors
You can buy it by clicking on the picture.

Lately, Sonic's games haven't been very good. But
Sonic Colors
is an exception.

The story is just about Sonic stopping Dr. Eggman from taking over alien worlds and kidnapping the creatures that live there. Simple enough.

I can't really go over controls because you can play this with many different controllers and they're all different.

"Sonic Colors' graphics are a sight to behold"

Sonic Colors' graphics are a sight to behold as they can be comparable to the Xbox 360 which is saying something. The worlds are beautiful and have very nice detail and colors. The controls are.....good. Some of the levels have nice designs and the later levels get challenging.

I have a few issues with the game, but all of them are minor.

First of all, don't be fooled by the Wifi label on this game, it's only for Leaderboards which are useless because of hackers.

For some reason, jumping in 2D is a little odd. It's very hard getting Sonic to go exactly where you want. It will cost you some lives, but you get used to it after a while.

While the 3D parts have beautiful graphics, they are very....um......well......kinda hard to control. Sonic turns a corner about....say.....5 seconds after you input the command, which is not very reliable.

My final complaint is that the game is a bit short. I beat it in 2 days but I did replay it.

Overall this is one of the best 3D Sonic games made. It has good controls (minus some of the 3D), beautiful music, good level design, and one of the best graphics on the Wii.

8.8/10 A great game to have.

Amazing Reviews: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
You can buy it by clicking on this picture

Ah, the Super Smash Bros. series. It's always been a great series and can Brawl hold up to this amazing series? Well......

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
is almost identical to the two Smash Bros. that came before it. There is so much to go over about the controls......that its just better if you just look up the controls on Google.

The story.....yes.....there's a story.....(although the story is only if you're playing Subspace Emissary Mode) is that there is a being named Tabuu that is trying to turn the entire world into Subspace and all of these characters must team up to defeat him.

There's a lot of fun to be had with Brawl. It's just......a really fun game. There are surprises at every turn, lots of modes that you can play, and the online is a reason I'm still playing it today. However, it still has some problems.

Okay, most of these aren't problems, they're just....annoyances.

While I can stand having items on, I like to have them off most of the time. But when I do have them on, there are just three items I find so cheap that I NEVER turn them on.

The Fan
The Ray Gun
The Home Run Bat

The Fan can constantly attack opponents and it can get their damage to 200%.
The Ray Gun can push opponents off the stage with ease.
The Home Run Bat can instantly kill an opponent (although it is slow) and its regular attacks are way too cheap.

Something that everybody talks about and this can't be ignored.

TRIPPING.

Tripping is when your character will randomly trip over, leaving them vulnerable to attacks. Which really is annoying and it needs to be removed.

Remember that online mode I said? Well it's definitely ok. But it's really not that good. Unless you have friends, you're stuck doing Basic Brawl (which is playing against random people) and you're also stuck inside servers that have a lot of lag.

My final complaint (annoyance) is a level inside the Subspace Emissary. The Great Maze. This level is basically an excuse to make you play the game for a few more hours. And you need to beat it to unlock Sonic.

One more annoyance. Though this isn't much of an annoyance, unlocking characters in this game is......easy. All you have to do is encounter that character in Subspace Emissary and you unlock him/her.

Most of my complaints (annoyances) are minuscule and are so small to how much fun this game is. I still play this today and you'll be playing this almost nonstop until the next one comes out for the Wii U and 3DS!

Amazing Reviews: WarioWorld (Gamecube)

WarioWorld
You can buy it if you click on the picture.

Does Wario have what it takes to make a game as good as Mario's? Only this review can find out.

The story is about Wario's treasure being turned into monsters because of a cursed black jewel in his basement. So Wario must go out and defeat the black jewel to get his treasure back.

To move Wario just use the control stick (no surprise there but I have to go over it). Press the B button to have Wario punch and he can pull off a combo if you press it three times and the first two times it hits an enemy. Press the A button to have Wario jump. Press the R button to have Wario do a dash move and he can jump in the middle of a dash move to do a long jump. (Be warned though as he cannot hold onto an edge while he long jumps). If you punch an enemy enough, they will get dizzy. When they're dizzy you have one of a few options to do with them. You can either: 1. Press B while they're dizzy then hold the B button while you have them in your hands, and release the B button to throw them. 2. Pick them up with the B button, jump, then press the B button again to do a pile driver. 3. Pick them up and rotate the control stick to spin them around and kill all enemies he touches. You can also press the B button while he's spinning to throw him. Wario can also do a ground pound when you jump and press the R button. (the ground pound is used very rarely)

"The bosses also need some noting"
This boss in particular is Red Brief J, my favorite.

The game can be very fun. The bosses also need some noting as they are very enjoyable and memorable. (Sure they're easy, but they're FUN). The levels can become challenging and the platforming can be difficult, but when it's not hard, it's easy. Unfortunately I can't do whatever you can do with the treasure you collect in this game by pushing those different colored switches because I don;t know what's required to do....whatever you do with it. It's something to do with the GameBoy.....oh well. Also to get to the boss room, you need these red crystals that you get from these doors in the ground. To open the doors in the ground, just ground pound them and you will have to do a lot of difficult (or easy) platforming.

I have a few complaints with this game however. One is minor, one is major, and the other is a warning.

The minor complaint is that the Spritelings that you save by breaking open their boxes.....they don't do anything beside change the ending VERY slightly and they also give you a useless tip (hurray...?)

The major complaint is that this.....game.....is.....just....too......SHOOOORRRRRTTTT!!!!!! I can easily beat it in 2 hours. I like to replay it, but apparently other people don't.....it is a problem though because there's nothing left to do after you beat the game other than get the statue pieces and the treasure.

This is a picture of a challenge room. This one has difficult platforming sections.

My warning is about the challenge rooms. I like to classify them under two categories. Incredibly easy and GAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! HAVE MERCY!!! Fortunately the "have mercy" parts....there are only about 5-7 of them out of the about 50 challenge rooms.

WarioWorld is a solid game to own and it gets an

Amazing Reviews: Mega Man 2

Mega Man 2
You can buy it if you click on this picture

Ah it's always good to go back and play a legendary classic now and again.

The story is just you trying to stop Dr. Wily from taking over the world. Simple and effective.

Controls are very simple. Just use the control pad to move Mega Man and press the A button to jump and press the B button to shoot.

Mega Man doesn't play like a normal game. YOU choose what level to go to. You can either choose Heat Man, Bubble Man, Air Man, Flash Man, Wood Man, Metal Man, Crash Man, or Quick Man's level. The objective is to run, jump, and shoot through some well thought out levels to reach the robot boss at the end, defeat it, take their weapon and move on to the next robot. After you beat all 8 of the robots, you go to Wily's Castle, which has 4 levels and a final boss in the secret 5th level. All of these levels are very difficult mainly because your weapon energy isn't refilled after you beat a level unlike in the regular levels so try to use your weapons so you don't use them all up at once because you're going to need them when you have to fight all 8 of the robots in Wily Stage 4 as well as taking on Wily in his 2 forms! This game can be very difficult when you first start it out, but after that it becomes easy. The game is short, but it is so re-playable it's not even funny.

As far as problems go, I only have 2.

The first one is that the frame rate of the game can be a bit off. When there's just too much stuff on screen, everything will start to.....flicker. This mainly happens only in Wily's Castle and even when it does, it's not too much of a problem.

The second complaint isn't much of a complaint, it's just something I have to point out.

In Wily's Castle Stage 4 there is going to be a boss where if you don't have enough of Crash Man's weapon, you will die. Something the game didn't point out. You also have to have plenty of Item-1 and Item-3 (extra weapons you get for defeating Heat Man and Flash Man) or you will die too.

Mega Man 2 is a classic that should be played by everyone that has an NES or a Wii. (IT'S $5 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD)

Amazing Reviews: Super Mario Sunshine

Super Mario Sunshine
You can buy it if you click on the picture.

Super Mario Sunshine
is a platforming adventure game for the Nintendo Gamecube.

"Mario then joins with a talking water shooter named  F.L.U.D.D"

The story begins as Mario, Peach, and Toadsworth are on a plane planning to take a vacation on Isle Delfino. A screen pops up on the TV inside the plane showing some Piantas saying how great Isle Delfino is. But in the middle of them talking, Peach notices someone that looks like Mario in the background of the picture and tries to tell Mario and Toadsworth, but they're too busy daydreamig about Isle Delfino. When they arrive on the island, a giant slime creature rises out of the ground and Mario must find a way to get rid of it. Mario then joins up with a talking water shooter named F.L.U.D.D. FLUDD then identifies Mario and they join together to get rid of the slime monster. After they get rid of the slime monster, Mario is arrested by the Piantas and put to trial. They then say that Mario is the one responsible for slime being everywhere and they put him in jail and tell him that he cannot leave the island. However, he can get leave the island if he cleans up all the slime on it. Mario then sets out to clean Isle Delfino.

To control Mario, just use the control stick on the Gamecube and to jump, press A. Mario can slide if you press the B button. Pressing the Y button zooms in to the point where Mario can see and you can shoot with FLUDD easier. Pressing the R button lets FLUDD shoot out water and holding the R button lets you continuously shoot and you can control it in any direction. Pressing the A button and then pressing it again when you touch the ground lets him jump a little higher. Press it a second time when you touch the ground to do a triple jump. spinning the control stick and jumping lets Mario do a spinning jump. This can be useful sometimes because if you use FLUDD while spinning, the water will shoot in every direction. Mario can also do a wall jump if you press A while he's on a wall. Mario can take 8 hits and he refills one piece of health when you get a coin. Blue Coins can be collected and getting 10 of them gets you a Shine (the equivalent to a star in this game).

This game can be a lot of fun to play and introduces plenty of new elements that were used in another great Mario game, Super Mario Galaxy. Controls are good, the camera angle is good, and the game is very long and even after you beat it, it's very re-playable. Another thing that makes it stand out is its wonderful music. My favorites including Bianco Hills, Isle Delfino, and Ricco Harbor. However it still has its share of issues.

Something I didn't like about this game was that after you beat the game, you had to collect Blue Coins to get the rest of the Shines and they can be very frustrating to get. There are also 3 levels I find to be almost impossible. The first level to Sirena Beach has a VERY annoying boss, the first level to Corona Mountain has a difficult to control boat ride, and the third level to Pianta Villaige is big and its easy to get lost in it. as well as you not having your FLUDD.

Overall my complaints are minor to how great this game is. If you have a Gamecube, this game is a no brainer to have and will keep you occupied for days, if not weeks.
